BCWBS Call for Annual Award Nominations for the 2016 Season

We are now accepting nominations for individuals and / or organizations from your club or region for the 2017 Annual BCWBS Awards!

We strongly encourage you to nominate persons/organizations from your region to recognize their hard work/generous support. Awards will be given out at our annual banquet on March 25th , 2017 at the BC-CWBL Finals in Victoria.

The nomination deadline is Friday March 11th, 2017 .  Please use this form for your nominations and return via email to sian@bcwbs.ca .You can scan and send or merely cut and paste into the body of the email  

The nominee must be a member in good standing with BCWBS (community support award not included).

BCWBS Annual Awards

In an effort to recognize outstanding contributions and achievements in the sport of wheelchair basketball in British Columbia, the following 10  awards are distributed annually by the BC Wheelchair Basketball Society. Full nomination criteria can be found below:

* Coach of the Year

* Volunteer of the Year

* Official of the Year

* Outstanding Community Support Award

* MJ Boudreault Award

* Kenny Hall Spirit Award

Athlete of the Year (male and female)

Any BC wheelchair basketball athlete 19 yrs or over. Nominees in this category should have demonstrated outstanding performance athletically during the year.

Junior Athlete of the Year

Any BC wheelchair basketball athlete under 19 years of age. Commitment and enthusiasm over performance should be the focus of this award.

Coach of the Year

Any coach who has resided in BC for the past year and has been responsible for coaching at any level of competition. Nominees in this category should demonstrate commitment and dedication.

Volunteer of the Year

Any BC resident who has volunteered his/her time in support of the development of wheelchair basketball in BC.

Official of the Year

Any official who has resided in BC for the past year and officiated at any level of competition. Nominees in this category should demonstrate commitment and dedication as an official.

Outstanding Community Support Award

Any individual, organization or business that has made a significant impact in the development of wheelchair basketball in BC, financially or otherwise.

MJ Boudreault True Sport Award

Any individual who best displays MJ's dedication to sport and training, leadership, and competitive drive. MJ was one of our most dedicated athletes who passed away in 2011. MJ had a great competitive spirit and was a great leader in our community.

Kenny Hall Spirit Award

Any individual whose love of wheelchair basketball has been demonstrated through his or her sportsmanship, mentorship, on and off the court and as a general ambassador of the game.

This award is presented in honor of Kenny Hall who was a big part of BCWBS community and passed away in 2013.

Let’s Play Award

Any individual who positively impacts the Let’s Play program. This could be but is not limited to: a child who has exceled, a volunteer, teacher, physio, coach, community leader or organization. The Let's Play Vision: Every child in BC with a mobility related physical disability has a healthy and happy start to being physically active.
