BCWBS would like to thank everyone for their generous support this year whether as an athlete, coach, volunteer, official, sponsor, or partner! The year 2012 was a full of successful programs and events for BCWBS and its members. We wish you all happy holidays and enjoy the last newsletter of 2012!

Young Wheelchair Basketball Athletes Shine at Junior Challenge Festival
November 10/11 marked the 13th Annual Junior Challenge at McRoberts Secondary in Richmond. Junior athletes from all over BC came out to show their skills on the court. The format for the tournament was a little bit different this year in order to align our programming with the Long Term Athlete Development model. Still having the two divisions of 8 1/2 and 10ft we reduced the number of players on the court. read more...
League Award Winners Presented at Fall City League Final Night
Tim Frick Fall City League ended on November 25. Unfortunately we were missing a few players and regular coach Arley for this final night but the players in attendance had a blast playing some games thanks to our Provincial Coach Marni Abbott-Peter. read more...
Art Kelz of Kelowna Wins the Honda Mobility Dream Contest

* Vernon 4-week pilot program was held November 13 - December 4 utilizing these donated sport wheelchairs and was a huge success. They are starting a winter session again in New Year. Stay tuned!

Volunteers
BCWBS is always looking for passionate and hardworking volunteers. In addition to regular program volunteers, we are currently looking for special event volunteers for:
- BC-CWBL Provincial Finals in Coquitlam (March 1-3) - scorekeeping, gym set-up/take down, game directors
- Jr. West Regional Championships in Prince George (Marh 22-24) - scorekeeping, gym set-up/take down, hospitality, transportation, etc.

- Regional Coach Joe Higgins Leaving BCWBS - Regional Coach Joe Higgins is leaving BCWBS as of December 15. Joe has been a passionate coach, great leader, and friend to many of our members including athletes, fellow coaches, volunteers, and their families for many years. The influence Joe has made on our programs and the impact he made on many athletes from junior to Paralympic athletes are indescribable. Joe will still be around to help us as a skilled volunteer but he won't be working for us on a regular basis. BCWBS would like to thank Joe for his hard work and to wish him the best. Thanks Joe!!
